Dr. Shafik Sachedina is a professional qualified Dental Surgeon. Due to his leadership and management skills, Dr. Shafik has been appointed as a director of several institutions. He has voluntarily served for many years in various positions at the Jamati Institution of Aga Khan Foundation.
Dr. Shafik Sachedina was born in 1950 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. In 1970, he graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical and Dental School, the University of London as a qualified dental surgeon. He practiced as a dental surgeon for many years in England. In 1985, he co-founded and worked as a director at Sussex Health Care, a UK-based support and care home. From 1992 to 1997, he worked as the director at Imara UK limited a building and development company. Also, Dr. Shafik Sachedina has served as a director at The Horsham Clinic Limited,
In 1996, he was appointed the head of the department of Ismaili community. The Jamati institution is at the secretariat of his Highness the Aga Khan at the Aiglemont, France. At Ismaili, Dr. Shafik Sachedina role includes organizing the programmes and activities of the organization in 16 principal areas. Also, his is responsible for coordinating the Aga Khan Development Network programs in Central Asia with those of Ismaili communities. Furthermore, he is a fellow member of the Ismaili Leaders International Forum as well as Aga Khan Development Network.
